6ft 4in Powerful Defender Hints At Arsenal Transfer – January Deal?

Club Brugge defender and Arsene Wenger target Bjorn Engels has talked up a dream move to the North London club in the near future.

The young Belgium believes it will be a dream come through to put on the red and white Arsenal Jersey someday even as gunners boss Arsene Wenger continue to keep tab on the player.

The 20-year-old however, fancied if it had been his current club- Club Brugge playing Arsenal in the Champions league instead of league rival Anderletch.

Im jealous of Anderlecht. If we were champions last season, we would have played against Arsenal. I have a membership card to Arsenal; I went to games a few times last season. This is the dream championship. He told reporters

The 20-year-old has been on the radar of top clubs but the youngster seems to favour a move to the Emirate.

Bjorn Engels is a Belgian professional footballer who plays for Club Brugge K.V. Started his football career at the Club Brugge youth academy at the age of twelve, He made his professional debut in the UEFA Europa League against Girondins de Bordeaux. He made his league debut on 4th August 2013 in the second game of the 2013-14 season against K.V. Oostende. He played the full game and scored the opening goal in the 3rd minute. Club Brugge won the game with 2-1.

He has gone ahead to establish himself in the heart of Brugge’s defence since then. He was an integral part of the Brugge’s side that finished second on the log in 2013/14 season with 63 points, four points behind eventual winner Standard Liege.

Engels will be a good fit for Arsenal in the premier league. At a height of 1.93m or 6ft4″ he already dwarfs some of the tallest defenders in the English Premier league. He is good and quick with both feet. His height gives him aerial advantage and can be dangerous at set pieces.

Arsenal are not over loaded in central defence and his recent admiration for the club means he is one that Arsene Wenger should look to get in the upcoming transfer window as he will give Arsenal a lot of options different from the usual Per Metersacker and Kocielny partnership.

He wouldn’t cost much to get and with the bargaining power of Arsene Wenger Arsenal can rap up a deal for him in an offer well below £10m.

He is still young and can learn from the experiences of Per Metersacker and Laurent Kocielny before going to establish himself in the premier league.

Engels is yet to be called to the Belgian national team but he has represented Belgium at the U17, U18, and U19 level and with his recent performances for club, expect coach Marc Wilmots to give him a call soon.

He has featured in all of Club Brugge’s games so far this season scoring three goals. Brugge sit fourth on the Belgian Jupiler league table with 17points after winning four and drawing five of the ten league games played so far.
