One of the most respected journalists who works with the Sun, Charlie Wyett, has not only confirmed Arsenal’s interest in Morgan Schniederlin, but revealed that the French international is close to a move to the Emiates.
The Southampton’s midfield enforcer has been on Wenger’s transfer shopping list since last season; but now looks set to make the switch. While speaking in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, Wyett who has called some transfer exclusive right, said the highly rated midfielder is set to finally make the switch to the Gunners before the end of the window.
“I think Morgan Schneiderlin will be joining Arsenal,’ he explained.
“He would be a good signing along with Petr Cech.”
Schneiderlin won’t come cheap as his club has slapped a transfer fee of £24 million, which shouldn’t be a problem for the Gunners considering how much was paid to sign two world-class players in the last two seasons. Wenger brought in Mesut Ozil on the last day of the transfer window two summers ago, and also splashed a hefty transfer fee in bringing in Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona last summer.
The fact that the player is also trying to push through a transfer to a Champions League side makes the transfer more likely this summer. This is the type of news that gets Arsenal fans really excited as the player in question is one that is highly thought of by a lot of pundits. His contributions to the Southampton’s team last season was hailed as instrumental to the club being able to land a place in Europe next season.
