A DM Finally? Wenger Ready To Pay £120,000-A-Week To UCL Winner To Sign Him

Arsenal will be aiming to stake a genuine push for the Premier League title next term and manager Arsene Wenger knows he needs to recruit world beaters in order to achieve his aim.

As per reports seething in the media, the Gunners are interested in signing highly-rated Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets and are ready to meet the player’s high wage. It is understood Busquets is top of Arsene Wenger’s transfer wish list and the French tactician looks to replace Mikel Arteta whose career will soon be winding up.

The 27-year old’s weekly pay at Barcelona currently stands at a reported £120,000 which is close to the £140,000 a week wage that Arsenal’s top earners Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez get at the London club.

The Telegraph writes that the Gunners would be glad to offer Busquets a week amount between £120,000 to £130,000. Wenger seems desperate to land the experienced midfield man – who has been an integral part of the Catalans team – having seen his initial midfield targets slip through his grasp.

Juventus’ Arturo Vidal and Porto’s William Carvalho are among Arsenal’s prime targets for the defensive midfield role but talks with the duo was unsuccessful. Vidal went on to join Bayern Munich instead after reports had claimed he has been talked into joining the Gunners by compatriot Alexis Sanchez who was instrumental to Arsenal’s success in the FA cup last term. In Carvalho’s case, his club has definitely refused to sell.

Busquets will represent an upgrade on Francis Coquelin and also a capable replacement for Arteta whose legs are now getting week. It is understandable considering the former Everton man is 33. Busquets will be a huge coup for the Gunners as it can not really be remembered when Arsenal’s midfield has possessed a player who can break up play and start an attack from the back. Busquets is the man!
