Advantage Arsenal As Tottenham Suffer Massive Injury Blow Ahead Capital Cup Clash

Sky Sports understand that Tottenham Hotspurs’ star Alex Pritchard is still struggling with the ankle injury he sustained in the summer and will now miss the North London derby against Arsenal on Wednesday.

Pritchard suffered the injury while on international duty for his England at the Under-21s European Championship in the summer, but the attacker managed to return to action in Spurs’ 0-0 draw at home to Everton last month.

The 22-year old has not featured for Tottenham in the last three match-day squads and is set to now be unavailable for Wednesday night’s North London derby against Arsenal at White Hart Lane.

Midfielders Moussa Dembele, Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb are also still unavailable for Tottenham, despite Dembele and Mason stepping up their recuperation from injury last week. However, Christian Eriksen could start after featuring as a substitute in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Crystal Palace last Sunday.

The aforementioned source claim there is no prognosis yet over when Pritchard will return from injury but the England youth will keep working hard with Spurs’ medical team in order to recover fully.

But the injury has come as a blow for the academy youth graduate, who was told in the summer that he would be integrated into Spurs’ first-team this season, having signed a new four-year deal at the club in August.

Pritchard starred for Brentford when he played there on a season-long loan deal last term, and the Englishman has made two appearances for Tottenham so far this season.
