ADVANTAGE Manchester United In Chase For Benzema

Manchester United have left no stone unturned in their transfers this summer window as Louis Van Gaal continues his squad re-building. However, we United fans know that process will not be complete without the signing of a quality striker and an experienced defender. Manchester United cannot afford to compete in the 2015/2016 season without a quality striker to support Wayne Rooney.

Even though Manchester United still has the likes of Hernandez and Wilson as strikers, both players still lack the quality and experience to lead a frontline. Which is why Manchester United must sign a striker. In terms of quality strikers available, Manchester United should be ensuring they sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema at any cost. Real Madrid are reportedly  planning a swoop for Dortmund’s Marco Reus in the event that Benzema leaves the club. The German player who was reported to have signed a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid could prove key in the transfer of Benzema.

With Marco Reus already lined up as a replacement for Benzema, it only shows that Madrid  are prepared to lose the Frenchman if it eventually happens. Which means the only possible problem Unite could face in signing Benzema would be the transfer fee. The Gunners who are also interested in the 27 year old saw a 31 million pounds bid rejected by Madrid who are reportedly demanding for a fee of 40 million pounds for the Striker.

With Manchester United transfer budget this season and the money to be gotten from Di Maria’s potential move, coughing out 40 million pounds for a player like Benzema should not be a problem. Signing a player like Benzema would mean a lot to United’s title chances next season. The French striker has the experience and talent to suceed at Manchester United and can deliver at big moments which Hernandez and Wilson. Not to take anything from Ed Woodward our transfer window so far has been excellently but he needs to put the icing on the cake.
