After £28.4m Deal Is Agreed, World Cup Star Arrives Manchester For Medical
The rumoured transfer of Manchester United target Nicolas Otamendi to Manchester City may actually not go through after news emerged. Otamendi is said to be in an hotel in Manchester at the moment enroute to Etihad stadium to undergo medical. However, if Sky sports Spanish journalist Guillem Balague is to be believed, the deal might have hit a snag.
According to the Spanish journalist, Valencia want more money before the deal can go through. This is despite the fact that Valencia and city have agreed a fee of £28.4m plus Eliaquim Mangala on loan. But having impressed so far this season, manager Manuel Pellergin is not willing to let Mangala go which has forced Valencia to demand for more money.
This situation if true will play perfectly into Manchester United’s hand. United were the first to be linked to the signing of the Argentine but for whatever reason, a deal could not be done and with United’s other target Sergio Ramos signing a new contract with Real Madrid, Manchester United could be forced to pay the needed money to get Otamendi with Louis Van Gaal seemingly keen on bringing in another centre back to add to what he already has on ground.
Otamendi had a stellar season with Valencia last season which has led to interest shown in him by many big European clubs such as the aforementioned Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Real Madrid.
