After Losing Out On Pedro, Man United To COMPLETE £56m Griezmann Deal In Days

After being dealt a big blow in their pursuit of Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez, Manchester United have turned their sights to French winger Antoine Griezmann. The Red Devils were left disappointed to find out Chelsea hijacked their deal to sign Pedro after they were reportedly frontrunners to sign the 28 year old. However Antoine Griezmann is being lined up by Manchester United as a viable replacement for Pedro Rodriguez.

Manchester United is still yet to find a replacement for Angel Di Maria as well as a player with pace and creativity which United manager Louis Van Gaal stated that he wanted. Antoine Griezmann very much fits that description and his style of play is not so far off from Pedro. The Frenchman enjoyed a terrific debut season at Atletico Madrid bagging a total of 24 and creating 22 chances.

Coincidentally it seems the 24 year old might be interested in joining United after he sent out a tweet applauding Rooney’s back heel against Club Brugge. However Manchester United face an uphill task trying to lure the Atletico Madrid winger to Old Traafford.

The 24 year old has a release clause of £56 million pounds and it remains to be seen if the Red Devils desperation to sign a pace and creative player will lead them to meeting the release clause. However with United failing to meet Pedro’s £22 million clause, it seems very unlikely for Manchester United will want to go as high as £56 million pounds just to sign Griezmann but nothing is impossible in the transfer window.
