After Scoring 31 Goals Last Season, €35m Rated Arsenal Target Set To Join Chelsea

Just what has been expected. Panic buys! After their worst start to a Premier League campaign in 17 years, Chelsea are expected to rush into the market to do some panic-buys before the transfer market closes on September 1.

A report from Metro has revealed that the Blues have entered into negotiations for the transfer of potent Lyon striker Alexander Lacazette, who is said to want a move away from France this summer.

Lacazette was rumoured to be very close to sealing a move to Liverpool few weeks back after the striker was told by the Lyon manager Hubert Fournier he would be allowed to leave Stade Gerland if he wishes.

The 24-year old’s impressive form for Lyon last term have alerted Europe top sides, and the Blues are now prepared to lure him to Stamford Bridge. Metro cites Daily Star who suggests Chelsea are now favorites to sign the £21m-rated hitman.

Earlier last month, an Express report claimed talks between Lyon and Lacazette over a new contract had stalled and the striker was considering making a transfer request.

Lacazette, 24, had his best season with the Ligue 1 outfit last term scoring, 31 goal in all competitions, and 28 goals came in the Ligue 1. He helped Les Gones seriously challenge Paris Saint-Germain for the Ligue 1 crown but they eventually finish second behind the Paris-based side.

Lyon are willing to their youth graduate leave the Stade de Gerland this summer, and Chelsea can now sign him if they can pay their (Lyon) £21m asking price for Lacazette.

The 24-year old finished as Ligue 1 top goal scorer last season, and also won the Ligue 1 player of the year. Signing Lacazette could help solve one of Jose Mourinho’s huge problems, with Diego Costa out of form and Radamel Falcao only signed as a back-up option.

Lacazette would make perfect sense as a priority signing and Metro suggests Loic Remy could be part of the deal.
