Almost Done – Arsenal On The VERGE Of Completing Transfer Of 6ft 1′ Star
According to reports from media outfit, Daily Mail, England and Arsenal defender, Carl Jenkinson, is set to put pen to paper on a new and improved contract at the Emirates.
Having joined the Gunners from Championship side, Charlton Athletic, the 23 year-old player spent last season on loan at West Ham United- where he played so well, earning the trust of both players and supporters- the player is reportedly back to fight for a place in the Arsenal first-team squad.
However, a surprise may await him at the Emirates. Exclusive reports state that, with the likes of other defenders Calcum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy already at the club, it appears that Coach Arsenal Wenger may not yet have immediate plans to integrate him into the first-team, but wants to keep him at the club to enhance the competition for places; hence the move to award a new contract, despite still having over 3 years left on the current one.
It is also speculated that the player may be again sent out on another season-long loan; and West Ham coach, Slaven Bilic, has again already indicated interest in the player’s services. Based on Arsene Wenger’s premise, a loan move for the player would only come up, after a contract extension has been signed.
