Lyon striker, Clinton N’jie had been on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea with their scouts monitoring the players progress over the years but it appears that Arsenal are eyeing the Cameroonian striker and are ready to swoop in.
Clinton N’jie is the latest in a long list of prodigious talent that have emerged from Lyons academy and Spurs reportedly had a £7 million bid lodged for the Cameroon star last week as they seek to secure the signature of the highly coverted youngster ahead of a host of rivals.
But Arsenal are interested in securing the services of the sought after forward and are reportedly interested in bringing him to the Emirates before the end of the summer transfer window.
Arsenal would have the opportunity to take a much closer look at what the Cameroon striker has to offer in the ongoing Emirates cup as he has been included in the Lyon squad for the tour and would likely feature when the French club squares up against the English side.
Some fans have expressed their disappointment at the prospect of this deal being completed as he has a very poor goal record of just 7 goals in 30 appearances. Despite being a youngster with bags of potential, they feel that the club should set their sights on elite center forwards like Karim Benzema of Real Madrid or Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli and not on an unproven 21-year old with a less than impressive goal record.
