Olympique Marseille’s defender Giannelli Imbula is seriously wanted in England. Monsieur Arsene Wenger has allegedly shown interest in the young defender with a view to bringing him to the Emirates. This is despite his reportedly being close to tying down an Inter Milan deal.
Inter Milan who are seeking to get back to the top echelons of Serie A has seen Mancini target the defender to shore up his leaky defence. A transfer fee in the region of €22 million is believed to have been agreed by the two sides. The deal also includes personal terms of €4 million annual salary being reached.
If claims from several media outlets is anything to go by, then the tale of where Imbula ends up this summer is far from over. Imbula on his part is believed not to be too keen on an Inter deal as he is weighing his options. Asides Arsenal’s interest in the young lad, the defender’s father may also be in talks with Tottenham who have also indicated their interest in him. As it looks, the Premier League holds a huge lure for Imbula and it will take a lot to resist the temptations that Arsenal and Tottenham poses.
Imbula has 37 games under his belt in Ligue 1 last season for Marseille and played a full 90 minutes 33 times with 2 goals to his name. He also helped Marseille qualify for the Europa League group stages next season by virtue of finishing 4th in Ligue 1.
