Almost DONE – Arsenal Set to ANNOUNCE €30m Signing After BID Is ACCEPTED
Arturo Vidal has been a target for most of the European elite for the past few seasons. This summer finally feels the one when the Chilean International midfielder could leave his current club Juventus where he has been instrumental in guiding the Old Lady to four consecutive Scudetti.
There have been reports in Italian newspaper La Stampa that Arsenal are finally set to start the bidding for the player, who is also coveted by Manchester United , Manchester City and Chelsea among others , with a formal offer of €30 million to Juventus. The newspaper claim that the reports are based on “rumours, nothing concrete”. However, with the same reports being circulated in the English Press, Arsenal fans are hopeful that a deal may soon be concluded.
Arsenal fans are probably right to dream of Vidal joining them. However, any notion that this is a done-deal is far from the truth, as the Italian publication’s reports have been found to be wide of the mark many times in the past.Even last summer, it was being claimed by the paper that Vidal’s move to United was imminent , by citing different transfer fee and terms of the deal. Same happened with the transfer of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona to Arsenal , when the paper had reported bids from Manchester United and Tottenham , and mentioned Juventus too as a possible destination, but failed to mention the Gunners as a possible destination, where the player finally landed four days later.
However, Vidal could certainly be available to join the Gunners this season after reports flooded the Italian press that Juventus were willing to cash in on the midfielder to acquire funds for offering a lucrative contract to Paul Pogba to keep him at the club.Vidal has also been troubling the Juventus hierarchy with his off field antics , by reportedly turning up late at training on multiple occasions throughout last season. Just last week, he was abducted for driving under the influence of alcohol while still involved with Chile in the Cops America.
This recent incident , coupled with the previous misdemeanors , have reportedly convinced the Old Lady to part with the enigmatic midfielder if they are offered the right deal. Arsene Wenger , who is a strict disciplinarian himself, and has punished players for their misdemeanors in the part, the latest one in his goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny for smoking in the showers, would no doubt want assurances over the player’s behavior before signing him.
Gunners fans all over the world will be keenly watching the developments. However, it will be interesting to see what price , and not just in millions , is Wenger prepared to pay to bring a world class player to the club.
