Almost Done – Chelsea Target Set To Sign In £21m Deal, Announcement Could Be Next Week

Axel Witsel has reportedly set his hearts on plying his trade with AC Milan in the Serie A.

The player’s agent, Riccardo Napolitano says his client is ready to join Milan even if the Italian club will not be playing Champions League football next season, as per Express.

Witsel, a Chelsea and Man United target, was highly tipped to move to Stamford Bridge last month but the Rosonerri seem to have stolen the lead on the Blues.

Napolitano confirmed to Antenna 3 that the Zenit midfielder was not convinced by Milan at the start of the negotiations because he wanted a club playing in the Champions League (via Express).

But the Italian giants were very persistent and Witsel accepted their offer in the end. The only stumbling block now is the fee. The San Siro club will need to meet Zenit’s asking price.

“Milan are prepared to spend £14.4m, but the Russians are asking for £21.6 to £25m.”

Juventus have also shown interest in the Belgian international player, but will only likely make a bid if Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba leave. The former Benfica midfielder is now waiting for Zenit to accept Milan’s offer, as he has reportedly accepted personal terms with the Rosonerri.

Milan have already signed Sevilla’s Europa League-winning striker, Carlos Bacca, Alexandre Matri and Luiz Adriano.
