ALMOST Done – Chelsea To COMPLETE Transfer Of £80,000-A-Week UCL Winner

Chelsea’s Nigerian defensive midfielder, John Obi Mikel is set for an exit away from Stamford Brigde as per the Daily Mail.

The 28- year old is currently one of the longest serving players at the club after joining in 2006 in a protracted transfer saga. He has gone on to make over 200 Premier League appearances for the current Premier League champions but it appears that the curtains on his Chelsea career is about to fall

Mikel has experienced a drastic reduction in his playing time after the return of Serbian midfielder, Nemanja Matic from Benfica in a £21 million deal. The arrival of the Serbian confirmed Mikel to longer spells on the bench with Brazillian Ramires ahead of him in the pecking order and the arrival of Fabregas ensured that he dropped further in the pecking order.

Mikel made just 18 appearances for Chelsea last season with most of them coming from the bench. He created just two chances in the league last season but he completed an impressive 91% of his passes albeit most of them were short simple passes with no form of adventure or incisiveness. Furthermore, despite occupying a holding role in the team, he averaged a meagre return of two defensive actions per game which clearly shows why he is not highly rated by his Portuguese boss.

Super Lig outfit, Besiktas have shown interest in the player though they see him as a second choice target if their attempts to lure Liverpool’s Brazillian defensive midfielder, Lucas Leiva fails.
