ALMOST DONE – Club Director Flies To London, COMPLETE Arsenal Striker Deal

Highly rated youngster Joel Campbell might be facing a permanent exit out of the club with Italian side Palermo poised to make a 7 million pounds bid  for the Costa Rican. The 23 year old is desperate for first team opportunities and has been linked with a move to clubs like Villareal and Palermo. However Palermo are the only club willing to match Arsenal asking price of 7 million pounds.

Palermo have funds to land Joel Campbell after the sale of highly rated youngster Paulo Dybala to Juventus and will also be looking to replace the void left by Dybala with Campbell. The 23 year old has struggled to feature for Arsenal over the years with just 4 Arsenal appearances since he arrived at the club from Saprissa in 2011. The Costa Rican has spent majority of his time at Arsenal on loan to clubs like FC Lorient , Real Betis , Olympiacos and Real Betis.

After impressing extremely well while at loan at Olympiacos, many pundits tipped him to be involved more in Arsene Wenger’s plans However things did not go in that direction and Joel Campbell was subsequently loaned out to Villareal. Joel Campbell is regarded as a very exciting prospect for the future and why he never got a chance in Arsenal still baffles a lot of people.

With the number of players ahead of him in pecking order, the Costa Rican is unlikely to feature in Wenger’s plans this season. Development in his promising career can only be facilitated by more playing time and Campbell would not get that at Arsenal. A move away will greatly benefit the 23 year old’s career.
