Almost done – club to announce double signing in days ahead of January window

According to the Metro, Jose Mourinho is interested in signing a striker in the January transfer window, and he is targeting either Gonzalo Higuaín or Emmanuel Adebayor to join the Blues in January. The London club are currently languishing in the bottom half of the premier league table, after a fantastic League and Capital one cup double last season, the strikers are struggling to score goals, and it is believed Mourinho will bolster his striking options come January.

The Metro indicate that the Portuguese boss wants to bring a striker he has worked with previously at Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge. It is believed that Mourinho prefers either Emmanuel Adebayor or Gonzalo Higuaín to work with him again at Stamford Bridge. Emmanuel Adebayor has been without a club since last summer after Tottenham released him and reports suggest he is interested in joining a new club in January, Mourinho is aware of the 31 year olds availability as a free agent.

However Gonzalo Higuaín has been in fantastic form for Napoli this season and Mourinho believes if Chelsea are to spend cash on a striker it should be the Argentine international, the Blues strikers currently have 4 goals between them in a season that has seen Chelsea sleep to 15th in the Premier League table.

Chelsea, once a force to be reckoned with in the world of football, know they can’t solve their striking problems this January only by signing Alexander Pato.
