ALMOST DONE – Liverpool Set To SIGN £25m Rated Manchester United Target

According to reports, Liverpool are still keen on landing Spain and Real Madrid midfielder, Asier Illarramendi, and would hope to reach an agreement with the player’s representatives soonest. The Metro reports that the club has even submitted a bid for his services, which appears yet to be given attention at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 25 year-old midfielder has not quite lived up to expectation since his move from Real Sociedad only few years ago, and speculations have been rife about his departure from the Bernabeu.

However, the arrival of newly-appointed Madrid coach Rafael Benitez appears to have caused the tides to change in his favour. The player has been an integral part of Madrid’s pre-season training, and it appears that one may see more of him in Madrid colours, come the 2015/2016 season- though it is quite uncertain if he would successfully displace either Toni Kroos or Luka Modric in the Madrid starting eleven.

The departure of club legend Stephen Gerrard from the Anfield club made the signing of one more midfielder absolutely necessary; and coach Brendan Rodgers has identified Illarramendi as an ideal replacement.
