ALMOST DONE – Manchester United To COMPLETE NEWEST Signing On Monday

AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper, Nick Olij is on the verge of joining Manchester United, as per Metro.

United are looking for options between the sticks with doubts surrounding David De Gea’s future and Victor Valdes’ exit imminent.

Although Olij is yet to make any appearances for the first AZ’s first team in the Eredivise, the young shot-stopper has trained with the first team squad in the past two weeks and has been tipped in his homeland for a big future.

Olij is however unlikely not to feature in Manchester United first eleven, but could play a prominent role if their goalkeepers crisis develops, Daily Star understands.

United are eyeing Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris, Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen and free agent Sergio Romero as possible replacement for De Gea whose heroics helped the team to a top-four finish last term.

His immeasurably impressive performance has now pushed Real Madrid to want to sign him up as their first-choice goalie for next season. De Gea is also keen to join Los Blancos especially with the Spansih giants ending their 25-year association with goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who joined Porto last week.

Although Rafael Benitez’s team have signed Kiko Casilla from Espanyol, talks are, however, still ongoing for De Gea but has not yielded any results, with latest reports saying United will not allow the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper join Real unless they get Sergio Ramos in return.

Valdes, on the other hand, fell-out with Van Gaal, with the Dutch manager saying the former Barcelona icon lacks respect and does not follow the team’s philosophy.

19-year old Olij who has represented Holland at the U-17, U-18 and U-19 levels (via Squawka) will join United for a nominal fee, as per Manchester Evening news.
