Almost Done - Wenger CLOSING ON YET Another PERFECT Signing

Arsenal are reportedly the new favorites for the signature of highly rated Napoli left back Faouzi Ghoulam , with the Gunners set to follow their initial interest with a formal offer of £11 million in the coming days.

The 24-year-old Algerian International signed for Napoli just last summer from French side Saint-Etienne, and impressed with his strong performances for the Azurri. He created 23 chances in 21 league games for Napoli, and in the process became Napoli’s most creative defender, despite playing in just over half the fixtures for his new club. Couple that with just one defensive error and 48% success rate in tackles, and Arsenal would be acquiring a really solid defender at a relatively low price.

The highly rated full back has also been the subject of Manchester United and Chelsea’s interest in the past, with the Blues having allegedly seen a £11 million bid rejected. However, Arsenal are confident of completing a deal at the same price. The Gunners may yet face tough competition from Real Madrid where newly appointed manager Rafael Benitez is keen to link up again with his former player.

However, Wenger’s side are the bookmakers’ favorite to land Ghoulam. Any decision on this transfer is expected in the coming days. Meanwhile, the player can expect tough competition for a starting spot at Arsenal as the Gunners are already well stocked in that area with Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal alternating the duties between themselves.
