Another first team star leaving? Valencia in talks to sign this Chelsea superstar
Chelsea stalwart John Obi Mikel might finally make a move this year with Valencia offering a reported £4million to sign the midfielder. He almost left last year as opportunities were few and far between when Jose Mourinho was in charge.
He has played more often under Guus Hiddink but many have questioned exactly why given the need for Chelsea to win more, rather than draw their way to safety. Chelsea fans will openly admit that whilst John Obi Mikel has not played badly this year, he’s hardly lit the Premier League up.
He hasn’t passed further than a few meters and he doesn’t have the creative flair of most of his teammates. Neither does he have the defensive qualities to be a commanding defensive midfielder.
He has, however, been at Chelsea for a decade and is the clubs second longest serving player behind John Terry. It looks as though the players days at Chelsea might be numbered as Valencia weigh up making an offer to bring him to Spain.
Nigerian media outlet, AllNigeriaSoccer, suggest that he could be on his way, knowing that Chelsea have some good youngster and possibly new signings challenging for positions, meaning the midfielder might not get as much game-time next year.
