Another Sanchez? Arsenal Set To Sign Prolific Wing Forward

The Gunners are being linked with a move for former Real Madrid attacker, Jose Callejon, who now plays for Napoli in the Italian Serie A. According to Forza Italian Football, the Spaniard would welcome a move back to the La Liga, and Atletico Madrid are believed to be monitoring the player’s situation.

The player’s situation has attracted other clubs, with Arsenal believed to be interested in signing the 28-year old, who was one of Jose Mourinho’s favourite players when the Portuguese was still managing the La Liga club.

Callejon, who moved to Napoli two seasons ago, scored 11 goals in 38 Serie A matches last season. Perhaps, not high enough for an Arsenal team that need a player that can effectively compete with current striker Olivier Giroud.

Callejon is not the only player seeking a move out of the Italian club, as Gonzalo Higuain, another former Madrid player, who played alongside the Spaniard under Mourinho is also being rumoured with a move out of Naples; perhaps, due to Napoli’s inability to make it into the Champions League this season. The Italian team finished fifth behind Fiorentina and Lazio, who ended the season in fourth and third place respectively.

In a related development, the Gunners are again being linked with a move for Juventus midfielder, Arturo Vidal. The player, who helped his country to this year’s Copa America trophy earlier this month, is one of the most hardworking midfielders in the current Juve team, and would be a massive boost to any club that signs him in this window.
