Özgür Sancar, a journalist working with Madrid-based daily AS, as reported that Atletico Madrid winger, Arda Turan would prefer a move to Chelsea rather than move to any other club.
Sancar, who is also a Turk, revealed that Turan is holding out for a move to the current EPL champions, instead of waiting on a move to Barcelona, which may not materialize this summer, apparently due to the club’s elections due to hold on July 18.
Turan is said to be one of the players on the transfer shopping lists of presidential candidate Bartemeu, who also stated that manager Luis Enrique wants him on his team for next season.
“He’s a very good player, has real quality and perfectly marries what Luis Enrique wants for next season,” Bartemeu told Esport3.
However, in a sudden twist that seems to cast doubt over the player’s desire to also move to Barca, Radio Cadena SER reports that the board of the current La Liga champions has ruled out the possibility of signing the Turkish international until the general elections are over.
Turan’s agent, Ahmet Bulut has continued to claim that the player wants to play in the EPL next season, with both Chelsea as well as Manchester United being closely linked.
“He intends to leave Spain this summer. It is his will to go out to play in the Premiership, that is where he would like to continue his career at this time,” Bulut told AS.
In a related development, Chelsea and Spanish striker, Diego Costa, has revealed his desire to reunite with Turan.
“I would really like to be reunited with him [Arda Turan] it would be fantastic because he is a player that makes my job easier,” Costa said.
“Arda, Filipe Luis and I achieved great success together and he really is a great guy.”
