Arenal FC Songs: Famous Gunners Chants From ‘North London Forever’ To ‘Rice Rice Baby’

Arsenal Football Club is one of the most successful teams in the history of English football. The north London giants have a large and passionate fanbase who make themselves heard when their team really needs them.

From their old ground, Highbury, to the Emirates Stadium, the Arsenal fans sing and chant in support of their team. Here are some of the favourite chants from the North London club:

The Angel (North London Forever)

The Angel, arguably referred to as North London Forever, was written by a diehard Arsenal fan, Louis Dunford, who was born and bred in North London.

It was first released in February 2022 and was first played ahead of a home game against Leeds United in May 2022. Since it was first played, it has become a club anthem before every Gunners game.

The song became so popular that Arsenalā€™s head coach, Mikel Arteta, invited Dunford to the club to meet the staff and the players a few months after its release.

Lyrics

As I walk these streets alone, through this borough I call home. Upon the baron fields of Highbury, ‘neath the stadiums of stone. Through the turnstiles at The Angel, see the homeless on the green. From The Cally to The Cross, and every shithole in between

Pass the church, the mosque, a crack den, and the office on the corner. See the brasses from the brothel that pretends to be a sauna. Watch the bedlam in the bookies, see the winners and the losers. Seeking solace from their sorrow in the local battle cruisers

Through the madness in the market, weathered faces turn to greet ya“‘Ello gov’nor, how’s your mother?”. “You alright, son, be lucky, geezer”. Double pie and mash and liquor, a Cuppa Rosie Lee up chap. Or watch retired gangsters bicker, every day in Arthur’s cafĆ©

The little f**kers causing trouble, for the cozzers make you smile. You meet ya muckers for a couple, forget your troubles for a while. From The Thornhill to The Hemmy, all the faces are the same‘. Cause the manor might be changing, but the people still remain

North London forever. Whatever the weather, these streets are our own. And my heart will leave you, never. My blood will forever run through the stone

As I walk these streets alone, through a kingdom made of chrome. I see them ripping up the cobbles, and tearing down our childhood homes. I see the architecture changing, watch the history disappear. And the skyline rearranging into towers of veneer

But I see the remnants of a London that they thought they could erase. Every time I hear the old school talk about the good old days. Or every time I watch the football and have a ruby with the lads. See an hoister selling clobber or a dealer shooting bags

It’s in the single mothers juggling a baby and a job. In every single brother struggling that wound up in the dock. It’s in the roots and the foundations, still clinging to the land. It’s in the bricks that built the Morland and Popham that still stand

It’s in my family and my friends, in every gram and every Benz. It’s in the roots that we inherit when a generation ends. It’s in the ruins of your youth and the faces of your past‘. Cause the manor might be changing, but the people always last

North London forever. Whatever the weather, these streets are our own. And my heart will leave you, never. My blood will forever run through the stone

We Love Arsenal We Do

It is the almost universal song sung by virtually every set of fans in English football, with just the change of team name at the end of the song. So, “We love you Arsenal we do, oh Arsenal, we love you”.

Arsenal Till I Die

The song is a popular one amongst the Arsenal fans at the stadium. In fact, it can be one of the most popular among Gunners and can be sung at every game. “Arsenal till I die, I’m Arsenal till I die, I know I am, I’m sure I am, I’m Arsenal till I die”

One-nil to the Arsenal

This is an iconic, famous Arsenal chant. It first came about during the 1990s when the Gunners won a lot of games by a 1-0 scoreline under Scottish boss George Graham, who was highly successful in the English capital.

Over the years, Gunners fans have sung the song on various occasions, usually in a more ironic way: “One-nil to the Arsenal, One-nil to the Arsenal, One-nil to the Arsenal, One-nil to the Arsenal..”

During those George Graham days, there was also a derogatory chant from opposition of ā€˜Boring, Boring Arsenalā€™.

Oh, to be a Goo-ner

Oooh to, oooh to be, Oooh to, oooh to be, Oooh to, ooh to be, Oooh to be a Goo-ner to give it its full title is another classic Arsenal chant sung at many Arsenal games.

Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal

This is another song that is sung by many sets of fans, so it is not unique to the Gunners. However, as they have experienced notable success, fans of the north London club have had more cause to sing it than most English clubs in their history.

And itā€™s Arsenal FC

This one was similar to Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal, and We Love Arsenal We Do. It is not unique to the Gunners but is often sung by fans of the club from North London.

Martin Odegaard Oi Oi

It is a song about one of the teamā€™s current stars, Martin Odegaard, to the tune to the tune of Chase the Sun by Planet Funk.

The song gained popularity in September 2023 courtesy of various media posts from Gunners fan Dun Gunning. The song quickly gained popularity, and it is now a song supposedly loved by Arsenal fans.

“Been dreaming all day, Of our number 8, Martin Odegaard – Oi Oi Oi, When heā€™s on the ball, Heā€™s f****** magical, Martin Odegaard – Oi Oi Oiā€, du du du du du du du du du du du du du du du, Oi Oi Oi”.

Kai Havertz scores again

Another ode to a current star this time, German international Kai Havertz. The song goes ā€˜Kai Havertz scores againā€™ to the tune of Shakiraā€™s ā€˜Waka Wakaā€™, which was the 2010 World Cup song. The song is now popular for Gooners at home and away from home.

“Tsamina mina, eh, eh, Waka waka, eh, eh, Ā£60million down the drain, Kai Havertz scores again.”

Rice Rice Baby

The song has been around about the midfielder Declan Rice for a long time, even since his West Ham days.

The tune is to the famous Vanilla Ice song ā€˜Ice, Ice Babyā€™ and is particularly well sung when the England international scores a relatively rare goal.
