West Ham signed Dimitri Payer in a much talked about transfer move from Marseille in the summer. The talented France international made a flying start to his career with the club, and he has already become a fan favourite.
However, the romance between the club and the player might be short lived. According to the latest reports, Payet’s agent, in an unprecedented move has asked the Hammers to double the wages of his client.
The Sun claims that the London club were stunned when Payet’s agent demanded the club to almost double the player’s wages to £125,000-a-week.
The 28-year old signed a five-year deal with the club in the summer. His current deal earns him £65,000-a-week wages plus a £10,000 bonus for every appearance.
The latest development has alerted the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, who are interested in the player and will be eager to lure him away from the Hammers.
The Hammers are not impressed with the agent’s antics, and the Sun quotes an insider: “It’s unheard of for a player’s agent to ask for a pay rise after only six months at a club.
“The player’s caught in the middle of it. The club aren’t happy.”
Payet has scored six goals and provided four assists in 18 appearances for the Hammers.
