Arsenal and Chelsea target, Augsburg’s Baba Rahman, is on the verge of completing a switch to England, as per Metro. The versatile defender has reportedly indicated his desire to leave Augsburg, and has attracted interest from London sides, Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as Italian side AS Roma.
According to reports, Arsenal have recently been in touch with Augsburg over the possible transfer of the 21 year-old, and are even allegedly preparing to table a bid. AS Roma, who have been credited with an interest in the player, are reportedly monitoring the situation with a bid to snap him up at the slightest appearance of hiccups in the purported Arsenal deal.
Having recently confessed to prefer a deal to London rather than Italy, the player would certainly have a problem of choice. Arsenal seem favourites to land him, but Chelsea are also keen to get him and are stealthily looking to leapfrog the Gunners and land his services. With the departure of second-choice left-back Filipe Luis now more likely than ever, it is believed that Blues’ manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign Rahman as Filipe’s replacement to compete with Cesar Azpilicueta for a place at Chelsea’s left-back position.
With Arsenal clear favorites for the player and Mourinho obviously keen, it will be interesting to who ends up signing the player.
