Arsenal CLEARED To Sign 6ft 2in CB, Key Liverpool Target Set For Emirates Switch

Abdennour told L’Equipe: ‘I am ready for anything… I’d love to play for big clubs. Why not leave so I can make more progress?

All it takes is for a player to signify intention to move to a new club or say a thing or two about another club, and the transfer rumours will start spinning. Reports in the Metro suggest that the Gunners may have been given the boost to sign Monaco’s Aymen Abdennour, after the Tunisian international and Monaco player admitted he is open to a new challenge.

The player was quoted as telling French paper, L’Equipe that: “I am ready for anything… I’d love to play for big clubs. Why not leave so I can make more progress?

“I do not think everyone will leave. I am ready for anything.

“I trust my President and my director. They know me, I will not put pressure on them. We respect each other, we work as a family.”

Liverpool are also believed to be interested in the services of the defender; but other clubs are also reportedly interested in signing the North African as well. Despite Wenger’s reported interest in the central-defender, he may have to fight off competition from these clubs for the highly rated player.

Abdennour’s contract with Monaco expires in 2019, which may require a huge transfer fee to get him off his current club. Monaco by the way, are also looking at reducing their wage bill, and may not be against selling some of their star players in order to remain relevant in the Ligue 1.
