Arsenal seems to be fortifying on all fronts as they look to build a squad that can present a serious and sustained challenge for the English premiership. The north London side has it guns locked on highly rated Napoli left back Faouzi Ghoulam so claims talkSPORT, who also believe that Wenger is preparing to submit a bid of £9-million this week.
With few world class left backs on the planet, Arsenal have found that position a bit problematic. Both Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal have taken turns at staking a permanent claim to that shirt. Adequate as they may be, have proved less than adequate at the highest level.
With Gibbs battling Injuries last season, Monreal stepped and filled in well, posting some impressive performances. However, Arsene Wenger seems to believe that better quality is needed in that area and has decided to make a £9-million bid this week.
He will need to fend off interest from Chelsea and Manchester City who have also been linked with player. It is no surprise that Ghoulam is in the eye of the storm after posting stellar performances for Napoli under Rafa Benitez last season.
The 24 year old Algerian international made 21 appearances in the league last season and may be set for an English sojourn.
