According to reports from media outfit The Metro, it appears that Arsenal are in pole position to sign Chile and Juventus midfielder, Arturo Vidal.
The 28 year-old player, fresh from Copa America triumph with the Chilean national team, has been the subject of intense speculation since the start of the transfer window, following reports that he openly expressed his desire to leave the Old lady and seek greener pastures abroad.
Having scored over 10 goals and assisted a handful of others in all competitions for Juventus last term, the midfielder is said to be in want of a new challenge. English Premier League sides Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, as well as Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are among the top clubs across Europe which have indicated strong interest in landing the player’s services.
Of the pack, Arsenal, however, are leading the race for the player’s signature; as reports state that Juventus have given their consent to the Gunners to begin official negotiations. Arsene Wenger also, is reported to be willing to meet Juve’s asking price for Vidal.
It is expected that Arsenal swing straight into action to seal a deal, so as to avoid a hijacked deal from fellow London side Chelsea, as Blues’ manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly monitoring the player’s situation closely.
