Arsenal Hope To Complete Signing Of £25m Rated DM This Month

Arsenal are set to finalize a £25 million transfer for Sporting Lisbon’s Defensive Midfielder William Carvalho who according to the report is likely to become an Arsenal player in within weeks.

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger is believed to have raised the bar after Sporting Lisbon rejected an initial offer in the summer, valuing the player at Arsenal’s €25 million.

The £25 million bid is the third bid Arsenal has launched for the 22-yer-old after Sporting had earlier rejected two offers from the Gunners in the summer.

It is believed that Arsenal had tried to bait the defensive midfielder into moving to North London the summer of last year but talks between both clubs broke down as Sporting made a firm stand in making sure the player will not go except for a ‘satisfied’ sum.

Arsene Wenger’s confidence and trust in the starlet is now confirmed with trending reports that the manager has agreed to part away with £25 million in order to see the young player don the Emirates shirt.

The bid for William Carvalho was motivated after the 22-year-old made it known in November that he wanted to play in the Premier League and hoped to secure a move to England.

Arsenal are however confident that the defensive midfielder will commit pen to paper and will likely seal the deal between now and the next two weeks.

Arsenal’s initial offer of £15m two months ago was dismissed but the negotiations ended on friendly terms. Arsenal have been playing Mathieu Flamini in front of the back four with Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta out injured.

Other than playing in a defensive midfield role, WillaimCarvalho can also play at centre back. The youngster played in two of Portugal’s three games at the World Cup and was also linked with Manchester United, although they have since signed Daley Blind.

Sporting Lisbon, on the other hand, are rumoured to be ready to cash in on their asset, having fell out of the Champions League, after being dumped by Chelsea. The Portuguese club, although, still has the Europa League tournament to play after facing Champions League elimination in the tournament’s group stage.
