€25m Star To Replace Mertesacker At Arsenal

Arsenal Likely Line Up After The International Break – Bellerin & Walcott Return

The 2-week international break will no doubt hand Arsenal major injury boosts, though they will hope none of their players get injured again while on international duty. The Gunners had 7 first team players injured prior to the break, with only Arteta back in action as he came on in the closing stages of the North London Derby against Tottenham.

David Ospina was also said to have joined the team in training last Friday, but hasn’t been certified fit. Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, and Tomas Rosicky are still injured for the long-term, while Walcott, Chamberlain, Ramsey and Bellerin are on course to return after the break. With these comebacks, here is how Arsenal could line up after the break (when they face West Brom).

GOALKEEPER

Petr Cech.

Despite Ospina bound to be fit after the break, Cech will surely keep his spot, most especially for the Premier League and Champions League fixtures. David Ospina however remains a perfect replacement in case of Cech’s unavailability.

DEFENDERS

Hector Bellerin. Laurent Koscielny. Per Mertesacker. Nacho Monreal.

Bellerin is on course to be back after picking up an injury prior to the disappointing Champions League game against Munich, and his return will be a boost to the squad as Mathieu Debuchy couldn’t quiet hold down the right back position as much as the young Spaniard. Koscielny and Mertesacker are now fit and will most likely continue their partnership in the heart of the defence. Monreal remains the option at the left back position.

MIDFIELDERS

Santi Cazorla. Francis Coquelin.

Both players have combined effectively well in their attacking and defensive midfield roles, and it will be hoped that they remain fit all season long to continue their fine performances.

ATTACKERS

Aaron Ramsey. Mesut Ozil. Alexis Sanchez.

Ramsey will be back to the right wing after injury kept him out for few weeks. Joel Campbell and Gibbs were deployed in the position, but they couldn’t do much. Ozil, who holds the highest number of assists all across Europe prior to the break will continue in the middle of the attack, with Sanchez on the left.

FORWARD

Theo Walcott.

Giroud couldn’t do much in the last 2 games, and a Walcott return could be seen once the break is over.
