Arsenal Makes OFFICIAL Bid For Benzema, Wenger Spoke To Player On Phone

A world class goalkeeper, a quality back up defender or a dominating defensive midfielder, you just name it and Wenger will find it this summer. After several frustrating years of refraining from spending despite glaring weaknesses in his squad, Wenger has finally realized the folly of his judgment and is in the mood to atone for the misdealings , or rather the non dealings of yesteryears.

In an impressive scoop from their fiercest rivals, Wenger has addressed the goalkeeping conundrum with Petr Cech. Argentine International Ezequiel Garay is reportedly on his way to the Emirates to bolster an already formidable defence, as is Portuguese starlet  William Carvalho to provide some much needed steel to the midfield.

And now, in perhaps the most important development, the Metro have claimed that Arsenal have submitted an offer to sign long term Wenger target  Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, in a bid reportedly worth a mammoth £42 million pounds.

The Gunners have held a long standing interest in the 27-year-old French International since his Lyon days , and Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of his compatriot. He has now, to the delight of all Gooners, allegedly made the striker his top priority this summer to fill the vacant number nine shirt at the Emirates.

Benzema has been a huge success in his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, becoming an indispensable member of the first team under both Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti. With more than 20 goals in each of the last 5 seasons, he has won all that is there to win in Europe and is a part of the famed BBC trident.

However, with reports claiming that new Madrid boss Rafael Benitez is planning to use Cristiano Ronaldo up top in a 4-2-3-1 formation , Benzema has been widely tipped to leave the Los Blancos this summer.

With reports in Spanish and English outlets now linking Arsenal with a big money move for the 27-year-old, a new adventure seemingly beckons for the player.

No confirmation has yet been made by any club, with the Gunners are now waiting to hear if the bid has been accepted before making their next move.
