Arsenal Makes SHOCKING MOVE For £115,000-A-Week Bundesliga Star

What is common between Karim Benzema , Mesut Ozil and Mario Götze?

Well all three are undoubtedly world class players for a start. Götze and Ozil are international teammates , while Benzema and Ozil shared the dressing room at Real Madrid. But ask any Arsenal fan , and you will be told that those are “the three that got away” from Wenger. Not true anymore , as Wenger finally landed Ozil two summers ago.

All three were highly coveted by Wenger as youngsters – Benzema at Lyon, Ozil at Werder Bremen and Götze at Dortmund.

Twice he was trumped by Real Madrid and once by Bayern Munich in his overtures for those three. But finally, at long last, everything seems to be coming together for the Frenchman this summer. Buoyed by the arrival of a quality goalkeeper at long last in the form of Petr Cech, Wenger is looking increasing likely to land Benzema as the world class striker his side need. With Ozil already on board , can he do the unthinkable and land Götze as well to complete the triumvirate he so desired in the past?

If comments made by Götze’s agent, Volker Struth, are used as a barometer, that seems a highly likely scenario. Struth has lately gone on record saying that his client deserves more support and is disappointed at his role in the squad.

Speaking to Bild am Sonntag , he said:

“Of course I would have liked if Mario had felt more support in one or two situations. I am fully convinced that when Mario feels this support, it is easier for him to show his incredible potential. Then he is one of the best players in the world.”

He further stated:

“That is why Mario moved to Bayern – to be playing in these big matches and to win titles. But then you get under a certain amount of pressure and it is hard to shake this off.”

Götze found first team opportunities hard to come by last season. Perhaps more disappointing was the fact that he was not selected as a starter in some of the most important games for the Bavarians last sseason, most notably against Barcelona in the Champions League semifinal.

His agent may not have clearly stated Götze’s desire to move elsewhere, but as Gunners will very well know, there isn’t  smoke without a fire. They will be hoping Arsenal follow their long term interest in the gifted playmaker with a formal offer this summer.

Perhaps this might just be the summer when Wenger rectifies his mistakes of the past and deliver a long awaited title at last.
