Arsenal News Round Up – Cavani, Benzema & Motta

Arsenal have not had much activity this summer transfer window in regards to incoming transfers but in terms of outgoing transfers, Arsene Wenger has been shrewd as usual. Arsenal have been known to make purchases towards the end of the transfer window, and with this summer window bound to close soon, the French boss is expected to make some late signings as accustomed to.

Karim Benzema’s transfer to Arsenal has been very much publicised as well as being dragged on for months. It is reported that despite little or no luck in trying to secure the signature of the 27 year old, Arsene Wenger still maintains confidence about landing the French striker. The Gunners are understood to be preparing a 46.4 million pounds bid for the Real Madrid striker. Being the businessman that Fiorentino Perez is, the Madrid President might find it hard to turn down such a tempting offer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Thiago Motta’s crunch contract talks with PSG. The combative midfielder who has one more year left on his contract was close to agreeing a move with Atletico Madrid but unfortunately the deal went south. Arsenal will hoping to capitalise on his unhappiness at PSG and try to lure the 32 year old to Emirates. With the recent injury suffered by Wilshere as well as the form decline by Arteta and Flamini, Gunners boss will be hoping to have a player of Motta’s talents at his disposal to share some of the heavy responsibilities bestowed on Francis Coquelin at the moment.

And lastly, with the strong possibility that Arsenal might lose out on Benzema, the Gunners are not putting all their eggs in one basket and are lining up a move for PSG striker Edison Cavani. The Uruguayan striker is valued at 45 million pounds and will definitely be open to a move away from PSG. Cavani has been reportedly unhappy at the club due to being played out wide to accommodate him and Ibrahimovic. Arsenal fans might prefer Benzema over Cavani but the Uruguayan striker can also make Arsenal a title challenging team with his added quality.
