Arsenal On The VERGE Of Signing LA Liga Attacker – Not Benzema

Arsenal are not only being linked with a move for Karim Benzema, according to the Express, the Gunners are gunning for the signature of Russian star, Denis Cheryshev. The club is reportedly lining up a bid in the region of €21m for the Real Madrid attacker, who has been out on loan in the last two seasons.

He joined the Spanish giant since he was a teenager, but has struggled to break into the first team. However, the Gunners are not the only club gunning for the signature of the player, as Liverpool are also believed in signing him as well.

Arsenal have a better chance of signing Cheryshev considering the club’s current financial status, which has improved after offsetting its stadium loan and the fact that its revenue base has significantly improved due to the improved TV right money it stands to share with other clubs in the EPL. Moreover, the fact that the Gunners could offer Cheryshev an opportunity to play in the lucrative Champions League next season, gives the club another edge over the Reds in the pursuit of the Russian.

Cheryshev, 24, plays mostly on the wings, but could also play as a front man, which could possibly be the reason why the Gunners are after his signature. As a winger who plays on the right side of the attack, the 24-year old Russian could be signed as a backup for Alexis Sanchez next season.

However, I would be surprised if Wenger brings in another winger this window as that area of the team is not one that bothers the club compared to the attack.
