Arsenal On The VERGE Of Signing WORLD Class Chelsea DM Target, Mourinho To Lose Out

The last days to the end of any transfer window is widely recognised as ‘Wenger time’, due to the Frenchman’s habit of signing players towards the end of the transfer window. Arsene Wenger is said to be up to his old ways, having reportedly made efforts to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender before the transfer window closes.

With Jack Wilshere expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines and the loss of form by Flamini and Arteta, Arsene Wenger is reportedly desperate to land a defensive midfielder. It is understood that the Arsenal manager is willing to part with as much as 18 million pounds just to land Lars Bender and was reported to have sent scouts to Bayer Leverkusen Champions league play-off defeat to Lazio in order to keep a close eye on the 26 year old.

Presently, Arsenal are heavily reliant on youngster Francis Coquelin in the defensive midfield duty role, with Cazorla being used as a make-shift defensive midfielder occasionally. Arsene Wenger will be looking to bring in a natural defensive midfielder in the form of Lars Bender to relieve much of the work on Coquelin.

The German midfielder could however be tempted with a move to the Emirates due to the presence of fellow Germans Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker who are already key players in the team. The 26 year old experience would be of great benefit to Arsenal and can also be a mentor to Francis Coquelin who might be talented but yet still inexperienced.
