After several weeks of back and forth negotiations, it seems the Gunners have finally been rewarded with a breakthrough in their pursuit of Karim Benzema. Italian Journalist Emanuele Giulianelli has claimed through his Twitter account that a deal for the French Striker is on the verge of being finalised before the end of the week. Giulianelli tweeted “Imminent closing for Benzema to Arsenal: Tuesday could be the day of medicals and announcement!
Many questions will be raised over the authenticity of this report due to the fact that many reporters and journalist have had similar claims in the past but turned out to be false. It should be recalled that Venezuelan reporter and model Jeinny Lizarazo made similar claims that Benzema was bound to become an Arsenal player around that period but unfortunately things did not pan out that way.
However, Giulianelli claims has also been backed up by Rodney Marsh who is a broadcaster. In a recent interview with talkSPORT , he said “I had a phone call from a mate of mine, and he’s been right on many things.”He said that he believes Real Madrid have accepted a bid somewhere in the region of £48m for Benzema from Arsenal.”
Benzema’s arrival will be crucial to Arsenal’s title and could be a massive boost to the whole squad. The Frenchman is regarded as the missing puzzle to Arsene’s Wenger perfect squad. Just like Thierry Henry said The addition of Benzema to the squad will help Arsenal end their Premier League trophy drought.
