Arsenal reportedly agree on €50 million deal for Granit Xhaka

Latest reports suggest Arsenal will agree to Borussia Monchengladbach’s valuation of their biggest star, Granit Xhaka. Xhaka, has been  on Arsenal’s radar for a lengthy period now and a move of £50 million was believed to be agreed. The Premier league side are almost certain Xhaka will join despite not having submitted an official bid.

On Wednesday, reports in the German and English media stated that that Arsenal were on the verge of signing of the 23 year old Switzerland international and have made an offer of £33.9 million plus add-ons to make a total of £50 million.

However, speaking to Kicker, Eberl denied the speculation, although he did not rule out a summer sale of Xhaka, who is under contract until 2019 with an option for another year.

Euros are looming with less than a month away and Xhaka  does not want to have any uncertainties with regards to his future.

“It would be good if I knew where my future lies in the new season before the Euros,” he told reporters. “It’s not all that helpful if you have to think about stuff like that during the tournament. Thus, I would be pleased if it were to be decided before that. But it wouldn’t be a problem if it’s after that.”

Gladbach have all but secured a fourth-place finish as they go into the final game of the Bundesliga season against Darmstadt on Saturday with a three-point advantage and vastly superior goal difference over Mainz, Hertha Berlin and Schalke.
Xhaka is expected to make his 108th Bundesliga appearance, and said and the following to say: “I don’t know whether this will be my last match for Borussia.”

He certainly is not confirming that he will be staying. The cards for a move are certainly on. Will Arsenal bid and get it accepted?
