Arsenal Send Scouts To Watch €30m Rated Star Ahead Of January Move

Arsenal have been linked to Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi. The Italian giants are believed to a bid for the 21 year old Argentine forward ahead of the next transfer window provided his valuation his met.

Arsene Wenger is believed to have sent scouts to see the Internationale forward at the San Siro last month.

Walter Mazzari’s Inter are still rebuilding following the take over of the club by Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir. The club brought in the likes of former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic on a free transfer in the summer, and loaned out former Arsenal target Ricky Alvarez to Sunderland amongst other players. They are thought to be seeking funds to strengthen other areas of their squad particularly as Juventus and Roma have become the teams to beat in Italian Seria A. The situation has been exacerbated by Italy’s two automatic slots for the Champions League qualification, while a third place finished is reserved for a playoff spot.

Mauro Icardi himself gave cryptic signs in respect of his future with Inter Milan, he had one time said he would be happy to sign a new contract with the San Siro outfit, and at other times, have said that he wants to play Champions League football which is something that is far off at the moment for the Walter Mazzari’s side as they have made a poor start to the season in Seria A, and are currently lying in tenth place in the league table.

While Inter Milan are believed to be open to a transfer if his valuation of €30 million is met, it is improbable that Arsenal would dish out such sum for the Argentine forward.

Arsenal’s forward line is littered with bodies at the moment who are currently injured ala Oliver Giroud, Yaya Sanogo and Theo Walcott. When they return, that department of the team would become even stronger. Arsene Wenger had dip into the transfer market to sign Danny Welbeck following the injury to Oliver Giroud, a signing in that department looks like what is far off at the moment.

While Mauro Icardi would have to make do with Inter Milan at the moment even though he has expressed his desire to play Champions League football. His best bet of achieving that remains with Inter Milan winning the Europa League this season, and going by their two wins from the opening group matches, they remain on track to achieve that fit.

As for the link to Arsenal, it remains in the realm of the improbable.
