Arsenal Set To COMPLETE Double Swoop Worth £65m, Both Can Play As False 9

Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation of Mario Gotze and Julian Draxler at Bayern Munich and Schalke, and are considering launching offers to bring in the Bundesliga duo, says Metro.

The north Londoners have been relatively inactive during the window as their only major summer arrival has been Petr Cech who left Arsenal’s bitter London rivals, Chelsea, this summer after Thibaut Courtois dislodged him to be Jose Mourinho’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Nevertheless, Arsenal are still in the market for some top attacking talents, with Gotze and Draxler being strongly linked with a move to the Emirates this summer.

The World Cup-winning pair are also on the radar of Massimiliano Allegri-led Juventus. However, Metro reckons Arsenal’s spending power could make Gotze and Draxler make switches to the Premier League with the Gunners.

Gotze, 23, is reportedly disillusioned with life at the Allianz Arena and has declared he could consider his options if his strained relationship with boss Pep Guardiola does not improve.

“We will see what happens. We will see if he (Guardiola) will speak to me more often,” said Gotze, after scoring for the Bavarian giants in their pre-season win over AC Milan

“Now I will just let things come to me. For everything else we will have to see.”

Gotze was partly inconsistent last term and he got dropped in some crucial matches for the BuLi champions last term, notable among them being the Champions League semi-final. The former Dortmund ace has courted interest also from Arsenal’s Premier League rivals including Man United and Chelsea but the Emirates is seeming the most likely destination.

Schalke’s Draxler was also reported to be very close to sealing a transfer to Turin last month only for the move to collapse due to the club’s inability to agree a fee with Juventus.

Arsenal came close to signing Draxler last summer but an injury he suffered prevented him from making the move to the Emirates.

The 21-year old attacking midfielder is capable of playing as a lone striker, on either wings or in the hole behind the striker. Great addition of qualify, provided the Gunners manage to sign him.
