Carl Jenkinson’s performance on loan at West Ham last season may have impressed his wards as they are keen on extending his loan deal for at least another season.
According to ESPN FC, the Hammers are deep in negotiations with Arsenal as they look to keep the youngster.
Arsenal are however intent on handing the former Charlton Athletic player a new deal. The new deal will in no way hinder him being farmed out on loan so that he can get regular playing time.
While a new deal might interest Jenkinson, he will however be receptive to another loan move as he is down the pecking order at Arsenal. The arrival of Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy last season has left him with minimal playing time. And with Hector Bellerin making a successful try out in the right back position, another temporary move will not be far-fetched.
Manager Sam Allardyce’s departure has in no way dampened West Ham’s interest in the 23 year old and have gone on to press for a loan move. The new coach Slaven Bilic has declared his interest in the young lad and it’s just a few details that are left to be hammered out.
Jenkinson played 32 league games last season for the Hammers last season and won 26 of his 60 tackles.
