Arsenal Transfer News Round Up – Gotze, Higuain And Jenkinson

Arsenal’s recent activity in the current transfer window may have been expected; as reports state that coach Arsene Wenger is keen to improve on last season’s performance, and has been exploring ways to strengthen all notable deficiencies in his squad.

The arrival of veteran goalkeeper, Petr Cech at the Emirates stadium on an £11 million transfer from Stamford Bridge only a few weeks ago, seems to have rekindled the passion for success at Arsenal. The Czech’s presence would certainly enhance the Gunners’ title challenge come next season- a thing that would surely give Blues’ manager Jose Mourinho plenty heartache.

With Cech’s arrival, the goalkeeping department is all but sorted. However, with the transfer window slowly winding down, the Gunners have been linked with a number of players, in a bid to strengthen other areas.

Englishman Carl Jenkinson, a versatile defender who spent last season on loan at West Ham United has been recalled. Having returned to the Emirates, he signed a new contract.

Also, another target, €60 million-rated Argentina striker, Gonzalo Higuain may indeed hold the answer to Arsenal’s striker problems, with Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck not providing sufficient back-up for Olivier Giroud.

The club is rumoured to be leading the race to sign Higuain, as well as Bayern Munich star, Mario Gotze. However, it remains pretty uncertain whom Arsene Wenger would eventually settle for. It is also expected that Arsenal would announce a major signing in the coming weeks.
