Arsenal’s BID £24m For Schneiderlin ACCEPTED, Manchester United To Lose Out
Arsenal have seemingly won the race for the signature of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin , after reports emerged that Southampton have accepted their £24 million offer for the French International. The midfielder had already made it clear that he would be leaving the South coast club this summer for a bigger team. Even last summer, he had attempted a move away only for Southampton to not sanction his transfer after they had already lost some key players and the midfielder had reluctantly stayed , since then performing admirably as Saints achieved a seventh place finish in the League.
The 25 year old had been courted by several top English clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger a known aadmirer of the midfielder. The chance to play Champions League football was the driving force that convinced Schneiderlin to end a seven year association with Southampton after being with the club throughout their admirable rise from the third tier of English football to the Europa League.
Arsenal had held a long standing interest in the combative midfielder who will be expected to add some much needed grit and steel to the club’s midfield. Though the emergence of Francis Coquelin had seemingly reduced Arsenal’s need for a defensive midfielder , the signing of Schneiderlin can be nothing but a step in the right direction.
Schneiderlin has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier league over the past two seasons and Arsenal fans will be hopeful that his arrival would trigger a rise up in the table and help Arsenal mount a genuine challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Meanwhile, Gunners are set to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech in the coming days. Monsieur Wenger may have finally addressed his team’s two major deficiencies in signing Cech and Schneiderlin.
