Arsene Wenger Officially Confirms New Signing, Player to Make Debut This Week
Arsene Wenger is set to announce Arsenal’s first signing of the January transfer window, Mohamed Elneny, within the next 24 hours.
The Egypt international has completed a move from FC Basel, for a fee of £7.4 million. He has also been reported to have passed the medical and only the official announcement remains. The player was being linked to Arsenal way before the transfer window opened. The only issue left was for the 23 year old to acquire a work permit which has been settled now.
Arsenal made a comeback against Sunderland last weekend in their FA Cup fixture, when Sunderland took the lead at the Emirates in the 17th minute. Arsenal equalised with the help of Joel Campbell in the 25th minute and it was all equal at half-time.
The second half was dominated by the Gunners and they finally took the lead by two goals in 3 minutes after 70th minute of the match. Midfielder Aaron Ramsey and striker, Olivier Giroud both manage to get their names on the scoresheet.
The Gunners played without Mesut Ozil and managed to win the game without him which in itself is proof that Arsenal has improved immensely and can manage to make-do without their key players.
This is Arsenal’s bid to win their 13th FA Cup title after they set a new record by winning it for the 12th time last year.
Speaking post-match, Wenger has promised to announce their first signing but avoided to name the player in question. However, it is obvious the player is none other than FC Basel’s midfielder, Mohamed Elneny.
