As Confirmed By SkySport – Star Arrives For Chelsea Medical, £20m Deal Done
FC Augsburg left-back Baba Rahman is in London as he gets ready to undergo a medical at Chelsea after the Premier league champions have agreed a deal for his signature, according to the Guardian.
The Ghana left-back has been earmarked as a long-term replacement for Felipe Luis, who was sold back to Atletico Madrid after only a season at Chelsea. Negotiations have been continuing for weeks, and finally it set to be completed as Augsburg star has arrived London to pass a medical at Chelsea.
Rahman was fit enough to play for Augsburg in a German Cup match last Friday, so the chance of him failing a medical are slim.
Sky Sport news reported last week that baba Rahman had already agreed personal terms with Chelsea.
The newspaper states that Chelsea will pay the Bundesliga side 14 million pounds up front and an additional 6 million pounds in add-ons depending on Chelsea’s performances and the number of games Rahman plays.
As long as the medical goes through smoothly, the defender should be cleared to complete his transfer to Chelsea so as to be able to be registered in time to be eligible for Chelsea’s crunch fixture against Manchester city this Sunday.
The 21-year-old joined Augsburg from relegated Greuth Furth last summer and enjoyed an excellent debut season with the Bundesliga club, helping them secure an unexpected fifth-place finish above the likes of Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund last season.
However, Baba Rahman faces a huge task getting into the first team in the near future with Cesar Azpilicueta being favored at left-back by Jose Mourinho.
At 21, Rahman certainly has plenty of potential.
