Atletico Madrid Ban Could Dramatically Speed Up Diego Costa Transfer, Diego Simeone Wants to Bring Him in January
Another Spanish to have been hit with a transfer ban is Atletico Madrid. And keeping their transfer ban in mind, Atletico aims to wrap up a move for Chelsea striker Diego Costa in January transfer window.
Spanish news outlet Fichajes claims that Atletico manager Diego Simeone is pushing for a move for their former striker.
Atletico will not be able to sign a new player before the summer of 2017 if their ban remains upheld. However, they can buy players in the current transfer window.
Costa has been involved in a number of controversies this season and is said to be unhappy with his life in Premier League. A summer return to his former club was reported by various sources, but the transfer ban has forced Atletico to wrap up the deal in January.
The West London club signed the striker for £32m from Atletico in 2014. He is currently nursing a shin injury he suffered in the 3-3 draw with Everton.
