Atletico Madrid Gives Chelsea GREEN LIGHT To Sign Griezmann

The Blues’ pursuit of the Atletico Madrid’s winger will be successful, only if a substantial amount of money is involved.

According to Spanish Football expert, Graham Hunter,  as quoted by Metro, Chelsea can secure the signing of Antoine Griezmann this summer with an “extraordinary offer”.

The Stamford Bridge club are said to be eyeing the purchase of the Frenchman, who is highly-rated by Blues’ boss, Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese sees Griezmann as someone who will compete with Willian for the right wing position, or even a striker for his team. For this to be done, therefore, the club will have to fork out a huge sum of money to clinch the deal.

Although Atletico are wary of interests from clubs and would like to keep their star man, a huge bid from Chelsea or any of the clubs would tempt the Diego Simeone-led side to sell the 24-year old Griezmann. Another factor that could lead to his exit is the club’s financial situation.

Chelsea have the financial muscle to buy the player, having recently won the EPL and secured a lucrative deal with Yokohama. A £35 million bid plus Mohamed Salah was reported to be prepared for the signing, as at yesterday.

Despite spending only one season at the club, the winger impressed scoring 22 goals in 37 appearances last term. He is quick-paced, skillful and has dribbling skills. “Antoine Griezmann is an exceptional player and would set the Premier League alight, Hunter said of the former Real Sociedad man.

Atletico have already secured the signings of Lucianno Vietto and Jackson Martinez from Villareal and Porto respectively. If Griezmann were to leave then, that will mean they have capable replacements for him.

Griezmann’s international team mates, Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane are other players on the wanted list of the EPL champions.
