Barca Director CONFIRMS Pedro Will Leave Barca, Chelsea Hijacked The Deal
Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez revealed on Spanish Television channel that Pedro has told Barcelona he wants to leave. “He’s told me he wants to leave. But we want him to stay. We are not going to accept less than 30million euros for him, it’s not negotiable.”
Barcelona came out on top in the UEFA Super Cup after Pedro netted a 115th minutes winner against Sevilla.
These words send out a direct opportunity for Manchester United to pull out this transfer and wrap up the deal as soon as possible. Fernandez also confirmed that so far no deal is in place and they are yet to receive an official offer for Pedro.
Pedro has been linked to United for quite some time now, and United are interested in the Spanish winger following the exit of Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain last week. Van Gaal believes Pedro can add the much needed speed and creativity to his side.
The 28-year-old has a release clause of 30 million euros, but United are trying to bring it down to 25milllion euros, which has been the reason for the delay in the transfer.
But a deal seems to be edging close following his comment to Fernandez and the fact that he started from the bench in the Super Cup match against Sevilla.
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique insisted prior to the match that he would never leave a player out due to the transfer window.
He said: “I have never decided to pick a player or leave him out because of the transfer window.
“I would like to keep all my players through the whole season. But we have talked enough about Pedro. The solution will arrive soon.”
Newer reports are claiming Chelsea have hijacked the deal. We will update you as events unfold.
