Better Than Giroud, Ivana Gazidis & Wenger Working On January Striker Deal – Not Benzema

With the pair of Arsenal’s forwards not the sharpest in front of goal so far, Wenger might be eventually forced to bring in a striker come January. Walcott has been the preferred starting frontman since the beginning of the new season, but the England international hasn’t been able to covert much of his chances, giving concerns that he might not be the solution to Arsenal’s striking problems. Giroud is approaching his 30’s, and doesn’t have much chances of hitting top form or providing services for much longer. Reports say Dinamo Moscow striker, Aleksandr Kokorin could be whom Wenger will turn to.

The 24 year-old was a Summer transfer speculation for the Gunners, but nothing materialized, and he continued with the side. However, his agent, Cyril Loginov believed that a move to the Emirates could still be in the books. He said concerning a possible transfer,

“Aleksandr, if we are informed correctly, still has a chance [to move in the future] and not just to Arsenal. If Dinamo refused to give Aleksandr to Arsenal in the past transfer window, it does not mean that he can’t be where he wants [in the next window], he continued. We have a very good relationship with the coaching staff and the management of the football club Dinamo Moscow. We have, of course, been notified.”

Kokorin has a commendable record on international level for the Russian national team that has been struggling in recent times. 36 appearances and 10 goals for his country, while he has scored 2 in 6 Russian League appearances this season. With Wenger still indecisive as to whom should play most between Giroud and Walcott, a fresh injection to the front line in Aleksandr Kokorin could just be what’s needed.
