Better Than Stones – Chelsea Table Bid For £40m Rated Manchester United Target

With just two days to the end of the transfer window, Chelsea are said to be interested in signing PSG’s defender Marquinhos and have had their inquiry for the 21 year old rejected according to Journalist Jason Burt. The Journalist took to his twitter account to announce the news and said “I’m told that reports in France that Chelsea been knocked back with an inquiry today for PSG defender Marquinhos are true. Clock ticking”.

Chelsea have conceded 10 goals in 4 matches this season despite having the best defensive record last season. The Blues defence is in desperate need of reinforcements before the transfer window closes and the failure of the John Stones transfer saga to progress as well as the recent enquiry rejection by PSG hasn’t helped Chelsea case so far.

Not only does Chelsea have defensive problems, the Blues also lack squad depth in their defence and failure to sign one or two players before the transfer window closes could prove to be catastrophic for Chelsea going into the season. Nevertheless, PSG’s Marquinhos will surely provide solution to some of Chelsea’s problems in the defence.

The 21 year had a terrific season last year with PSG winning 53% of his average duels and averaging six defensive actions-per-game. Marquinhos can be played as a centre-back or a right-back which would benefit Chelsea extremely as the Blues need back-up full-backs. Like Jason Burt said Clock is ticking for Chelsea, they need to move fast in the transfer window if they want to stand a chance to defend their title successfully.
