BID ACCEPTED – Chelsea Set To Complete Transfer Of Brazilian After £15m Bid
Chelsea and Brazil left-back, Filipe Luis appears more and more likely to depart Stamford Bridge as the days go by. According to reports, former club Athletico Madrid have recently been in touch with the Blues concerning the player’s transfer and are close to agreeing a deal involving a transfer fee of around £15 million.
Having joined the Blues in the wake of coach Jose Mourinho’s ‘second coming’, the 29 year-old fell quite short of expectations and failed to displace Cesar Azpilicueta as Chelsea’s first-choice left-back. Having featured mostly as a substitute, he seldom found regular playing time, and appeared almost always as a part of Mourinho’s
‘park-the-bus scheme’, which was implemented when Chelsea needed to preserve a slim lead over an opponent. At the moment, reports have confirmed that the player wants out, and appears to have had his request granted.
Being optimistic of the player’s imminent departure, Blues coach Mourinho has reportedly joined the race to sign German sensation and Augsburg Left-back, Baba Rahman, as a replacement. The 20 year-old player, who is also wanted by fellow Londoners Arsenal, has been tipped to become one of the best left-backs of his time.
Relatively young, agile, experienced and inexpensive, the player would definitely be a shrewd buy for any club who lands his services: and Mourinho, who is expected to table a bid for the player soon, definitely sees him as a long-term replacement for Luis, and also a potential candidate for Chelsea’s first team left-back position.
